Recent Changes in the Vernacular
by Tony Hoagland
We're always delighted to see new work from our authors. Here is Tony Hoagland's newest full-length poetry collection from Tres Chicas Books. The press says: Tony Hoagland's work grapples with the distortions of contemporary America and what it takes to remain human in these strange times. His wry, penetrating poems admired by Boomers and Millennials alike, restlessly seek to awaken us from our dream. Full of warm hearted cynicism, wild humor, and keen emotional attentiveness, his sensibility is so distinct it could be given its own adjective, “hoaglandesque.”
Order From AmazonTony Hoagland is the winner of the Jackson Poetry Prize, as well as the James Laughlin Award, the O.B. Hardison Jr. Prize, and the Mark Twain Award, given by the Poetry Foundation in recognition of a poet's contribution to humor in American poetry. His fourth book, What Narcissism Means to Me, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in poetry. He has published six collections of poetry and two collections of craft essays about poetry, and three chapbooks with Hollyridge Press (Hard Rain, Little Oceans, Don't Tell Anyone). He teaches at the University of Houston, and on Tuesday nights in a back classroom of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
